Leadership Retreat woody hills
  • Learn how to be yourself with skill
  • Develop the capacity to systematically reduce your stress
  • Calibrate your level of leadership development
  • Enjoy a reflective space
  • Explore what lies beyond leadership

This retreat is for those who recognise that successful leadership depends on who and how you are as a leader as much as what you do - and who want to progress on their own leadership journey.

Leadership, and what lies beyond, is an expression of our willingness to engage in the issues and challenges that we see around us. Increasingly this means not only ensuring that our organisations are profitable and provide fulfilling work for people, but also that they make a positive contribution to society and the environment. Because of this increasing scope, the task of leadership is becoming increasingly complex and challenging, and is placing ever-increasing demands on leaders.

This retreat helps participants find ways of engaging with this increasing complexity, and explores how they can care for themselves in such a way that they are able to sustain their leadership effectiveness over time.

Venue retreat house

The retreat is held in a spacious, warm and friendly Victorian residence, nestling at the foot of the magnificent Malvern Hills. With 9 luxurious bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, various relaxation and retreat rooms, each area has been designed to facilitate change and relaxation. Meticulously furnished, each themed room effortlessly blends with the next, giving an overall sense of tranquility. From the relaxation spaces, superb food and exquisitely comfy lounge, to the peaceful, private, glorious garden with quirky bamboo gazebo and restful nights in a beautiful bedroom, all are designed to help you be inspired, feel renewed and to relax.

The tranquil atmosphere is enhanced by the excellent team of professionals who provide expert input on leadership, coaching, psychology, nutrition and health. Over the three days of the retreat there is flexibility within the programme to choose your appropriate blend of:

  • one-to-one sessions
  • small groups
  • walking and talking on the Malvern Hills
  • laboratory sessions on stress reduction techniques
  • time for reflection and practicing mindfulness
  • conviviality.

Benefits misty hills

The benefits you gain from this retreat will depend on the blend of activities you choose and what you decide you need to gain from this time out. The retreat itself will take you on a journey into yourself, inviting you to take stock of your personal resources and qualities, and helping you explore how you can use these more effectively to pursue your personal and leadership ambitions. This can be a life-changing, stimulating journey of self-discovery and development which opens up new opportunities for professional fulfillment and achievement. And it can be powerfully restorative, helping you rebuild your energy and relax into your true vocation.

The retreat will also help you understand your personal stress reaction in laboratory sessions, and teach you techniques for methodically reducing your stress levels, with the multitude of emotional, mental and physical benefits this brings. In particular, you will learn to reliably access and sustain peak performance states (flow states) and so perform better more often.

Finally, this retreat will help you uncover the unique contribution that your particular blend of character, personal history, skills, personality and spirit enables you to make to your current and future organisations, your community, and the wider society. It will help you answer the question: 'What is it that the world of tomorrow needs that I can uniquely offer?"
